এতিমদের অধিকার রক্ষায় কুরআন ও হাদিসের অনেক জায়গায় সতর্কবাণী উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। পবিত্র কুরআনে বলা হয়েছে, এতিমের ধন-সম্পত্তি তার কাছে পৌঁছে দাও। আর এর অর্থ হচ্ছে সে বালেগ হলেই কেবল তার কাছে তার গচ্ছিত মালামাল পৌঁছে দেয়া যেতে পারে।
